Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is a country of extraordinary beauty, ancient Buddhist traditions and profound cultural richness. Yet behind its golden pagodas and serene landscapes lies a nation enduring the harsh reality of military rule. Since the military coup of 2021, repression, violence and serious human rights violations have deeply affected the lives of its people, casting a long shadow over the country.
And yet, Myanmar continues to reveal moments of extraordinary beauty. Golden pagodas rise above quiet streets, monasteries preserve centuries- old spiritual traditions and everyday life unfolds with a quiet dignity and resilience. In these contrasts _ between light and shadow, serenity and uncertainty, sacred spaces and fragile lives _ lies the profound complexity of Myanmar.
Living under military rule, no one can feel entirely untouched by uncertainty. Yet the human spirit endures. Through these images, I seek to hold both realities together; the timeless beauty of Myanmar and the fragile human lives unfolding beneath its shadow.
