I am undertaking an extensive voyage, traversing vast distances and confronting uncertainties amidst geopolitical instability. This pilgrimage is an unparalleled experience along the Eastern Path, in the Land of Passages—Ladakh. Here, I follow the sacred flow of the Indus River, navigating through numerous prayer walls and the challenging, ancient pathways set against a backdrop of majestic, snow-covered mountains, untrodden glaciers, and frozen passages at breathtaking altitudes.
As I explore these enigmatic and mythical realms of the Himalayan valleys—such as the Dha Hanu Valley, the remote Zanskar Valley, and the Pangong Tso Valley and Lake, as well as the borderland Tso Moriri Lake—I travel from the most isolated regions of Asia to the Indo- Tibetan highlands, reaching the very edge of physical reality.
During these contemplative "strolls," I experience profound moments and exceptional encounters with genuine individuals, including Visionaries and High Priests, who engage with the past while looking to the future with hope. These interactions awaken my senses and provoke mystical initiations that enrich my understanding and enhance my state of awareness.
In this mystical and otherworldly embrace of the Himalayas—rich in myth, mysticism, history, and stories—wooded gorges, scattered rice paddies, and challenging trails host mythical kingdoms and unique, ancient tribes in remote settlements. Among them is the elegant and hospitable Drokpa tribe, believed by many researchers to be descendants of Alexander the Great, often 'forgotten' by the outside world. Additionally, I encounter distinctive monastic communities of Buddhists, Shia Muslims, a small population of Sunni Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, and Ladakhi Christians, along with wise Tibetans, active Kashmiris, respected Indians, and nomads from the Nubra Valley, creating an extraordinary tapestry of culture and spirituality.
This unparalleled experience unfolds with unpredictable thrills and ecstasy, revealing an essence beyond what was anticipated. It is influenced by the unconfessed divine whispers of the Indus River, the wisdom of the locals, the ceremonial worship of the monks that transcends imagination, and the exquisite handmade heirlooms of the monasteries. I am deeply moved by the environmental consciousness, the pristine and timeless magic of nature, the bold and inaccessible mountain ranges, and the ethereal hues of the surrounding atmosphere. This journey offers images of essence, teachings, guidance, and spirituality, where simplicity prevails—a state of unacknowledged grace in the here and now, untouched by time.
